Vom Haefner German Shepherds is located in Winters, California, and is owned by Christa Petrillo Haefner.

For more than a decade, Christa has dedicated herself to breeding, training, handling, and developing German Shepherds. Her experience extends far beyond the kennel. She actively trains and competes with her dogs, participates in working-dog title events, teaches professional canine training programs, and works with dogs in specialized detection and protection disciplines.

A Lifetime With Animals

Christa's connection with animals began during her childhood on her family's ranch. Growing up around animals gave her an appreciation for their intelligence, individual personalities, natural abilities, and the importance of developing a relationship built on trust and understanding.

That early foundation developed into a career dedicated to dogs—particularly the German Shepherd and its extraordinary working capabilities. Today, Christa combines practical experience with knowledge of training, temperament, genetics, structure, drives, and working ability when developing her dogs and making breeding decisions.

Her professional work includes applications such as patrol and guarding, contraband detection, and vineyard pest and disease detection. This real-world experience is an important part of the Vom Haefner breeding philosophy.
